Last night's episode of Fringe provided yet another incredibly confusing look into the mind of Walter Bishop (John Noble). Let's go over what we learned about our favorite PhD-turned-psychopath-turned-papa, shall we?
1. Walter's real last name is Bishoff. His father, Dr. Robert Bishoff, changed his name when he came overseas.
2. His father was a Nazi—sort of. Bishoff—a.k.a. the Seahorse—was a scientist affiliated with the University of Berlin, but he also smuggled lab secrets to American allies during the war. Many of his formulas—including the one that would help the Nazis create the perfect race by killing people off with genetically-targeted toxins—were written in old novels.
3. Marriage is on his mind. He mentioned that Peter (Joshua Jackson) should wear his old tux when he gets married—to Olivia (Anna Torv). (Please don't go there, J.J. Abrams!)
4. He tests toxic substances on lab rats. Come on, PETA! Why haven't you taken umbrage with Fringe's depiction of animal cruelty yet?
5. He will do anything—even kill—for his family. After the team tracked down the man who was using Bishoff's formulas to kill the masses, Walter created a toxin to target the murderer—and gave him a taste of his own medicine.
What did you learn about Walter last night? How do you think this information connects to Massive Dynamic? And where the hell was the Observer?
