Weeds dvd vet Justin Kirk and The Newsroom dvd's Hope Davis have signed on for recurring roles on M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming Fox event series, Wayward Pines, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Written with Chad Hodge, Wayward Pines is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Blake Crouch and is described as a Twin Peaks-like thriller. The 10-episode drama's center is on Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), a Secret Service agent who arrives in Wayward Pines, Idaho to find two missing federal agents. Instead of answers, Ethan's investigation leads to more questions, natch. As Ethan gets closer to the truth, he strays further away from the life he knew as a husband and father.
25 unnecessary spin-offs
Kirk will play Peter McCall, an unassuming realtor in own, and Davis will portray a teacher at Wayward Pines Academy named Megan Fisher. The duo joins a cast that includes Terrence Howard, Toby Jones, Melissa Leo, and Carla Gugino.
After wrapping Weeds' eight-season run, Kirk starred on the short-lived comedy Animal Practice and will also guest-star on NBC's new series The Blacklist. Davis, who played gossip columnist Nina Howard on The Newsroom, also appeared on Law & Order dvd: SVU earlier this year.
Wayward Pines is set to debut sometime next year. Are you excited for the series?
