It's official. Ten years after it went off the air, Melrose is once again the place to be. On The CW anyway. The network putting in an order for an actual Melrose Place pilot kicks off a slew of TV news this week.
According to Variety, the Melrose pilot will be directed by TV vet and An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim. And for those of you who aren't familiar with the trashy goodness of the original Melrose Place, the new series will be a "remake of the '90s series about a group of twentysomethings living in the trendy Melrose neighborhood of Los Angeles."
Joining the American remake of Absolutely Fabulous will be Toni Trucks and Zosia Mamet, who is the daughter of renowned playwright David Mamet. Mamet will play the put-upon daughter Saffron and Trucks will play Eddie's assistant.
Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) has signed on to direct the pilot for Masterwork for FOX, which is a Da Vinci Code type international mystery.
Jason George (Eli Stone) and Sarah Drew (Everwood) have joined the cast of ABC's drama pilot Inside the Box, which "revolves around an ambitious female news producer and her colleagues at a Washington network news bureau."
Actress Jennifer Aspen (Rodney) has joined the cast of FOX's musical comedy Glee and Diego Klattenhoff has been added to NBC's drama pilot Mercy, which "revolves around three nurses who bond through the ups and downs of their professional and personal lives."
