The men who brought you Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon and Pearl Harbor are coming to HBO. Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay are reteaming as executive producers on a new HBO drama project, reports the Hollywood Reporter, called Cocaine Cowboys.
Inspired by the 2006 documentary by Bill Corben, the story follows "the early days of cocaine trafficking in Miami." The Reporter notes that if Cocaine Cowboys goes forward as a series, Warner Bros will run physical production – a first such collaboration between corporate siblings Warner Bros. and HBO.
This is also the first pay-cable project for Bruckheimer, whose many successful TV projects include the CSI franchise and The Amazing Race. This will be the first TV project for Bay, who brought the idea to Bruckheimer. Meredith Stiehm, the creator of Bruckheimer's Cold Case, is going to write the pilot.
