We've been thinking that it's about time there were some fresh faces on Coronation Street.

And in answer to our prayers, show bosses have cast two new teen characters as friends of Sophie Webster.

Ben (played by 16-year-old actor, Lucien Laviscount) and Sian (Sacha Parkinson, also 16), will hook up with Sophie and Ryan Connor to form a new group of teens in the Street.

Sporty Ben is set to take a shine to Sophie, who is friends with Sian.

A show insider told the Daily Star: "Brooke is an amazing actress.

"The introduction of two characters her own age will give the writers free rein to come up with some fantastic plots for her."

They added: "Being so young means there's a limit to what Sophie can get up to - but now she has her own gang there's more scope for juicier storylines.

"It's great for Brooke, too, because she knows both Lucien and Sacha from her college and acting classes."

The insider went on: "It will give her an added boost to have her mates around her."

Both will appear on screen from the end of January.
