Homeland, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Modern Family topped the Writers Guild of America nominations Wednesday with three apiece. Homeland, Breaking Bad and Boardwalk will duke it out for drama series honors with Game of Thrones and The Good Wife, the only network representative in the lineup. Homeland and Game of Thrones are also up for new series against Episodes, The Killing and New Girl. On the comedy side, Modern Family will vie for the series title against 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie and Parks and Recreation. The WGA's drama series and comedy series shortlists matched three-for-five with those of the Producers Guild of America, which announced their nominees earlier Wednesday. Mad Men and Dexter were nominated in place of Homeland and Breaking Bad, while The Big Bang Theory and Glee were singled out instead of Curb and Louie. (The guilds have different eligibility periods, which could cause the discrepancy.)
