Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester, talked about season 7:"I've seen the episode that Jensen Ackles is directing, which is the first one we're shooting, and I've seen the season opener. We have to go big or go home, andSupernaturalhas a tendency to go big and badder, and this season, the foe will be bigger than Armageddon, bigger than the apocalypse, bigger than Lucifer and bigger than God."Ackles' episode is slated to air third, meaning they could have already dealt with what happened to end season 6 of Supernatural—Castiel declaring himself the "new God."
With Misha Collins no longer a series regular, many are wondering if this means his storyline will be wrapped up early on in the season—or if, perhaps, he'll fade into the background for a bit. There's no real reason to worry he could be leaving after a few episodes since Jim Beaver(Bobby Singer) has never been a series regular and he's survived so far. It's simply because he was a series regular and now he's not that fans wonder what this means for the future of Castiel on the show.So what could be the new foe coming to Supernatural in season 7? The Winchesters have gone up against quite the formidable foes so far (Azazel, Lilith, Ruby, Lucifer, to name a few) and prevailed, but will they be able to continue to do so? WillKim Rhodes' returnas Sheriff Mills be just in time for her to get mixed up with this new enemy? Will she survive her return, or will she go the way so many female characters have gone before and end up dead? Based on the little that has been released about season 7 Supernatural, it sounds like the Winchester brothers will need toworkextra hard to figure out how to take down their new enemy, and now it sounds like it's going to be harder than anything they've faced—and considering that includes Lucifer and the apocalypse, combined with the themeButch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, things don't sound good.
Sam and Dean must also deal with the consequences of breaking the wall of Sam, and that's bound to have some impact as they fight this new enemy. Now Sam has all the memories from his year soulless and his time in hell, and the Supernatural dvd boxset season 6 finale showed him briefly having flashbacks to that on his way to Dean and Bobby. It seems likely he'll continue to have similar flashes, then what does this mean for hunting?
