There has been a lot of talk lately that Smallville, originally assumed to be ending this season, could possibly be renewed for a ninth season. Yesterday, I asked the CW's President of Entertainment, Dawn Ostroff, how likely it is that we'll see another season, and she replied, "We're starting to talk about it. Obviously, we are prepared either way. If the show doesn't go on, we've got a series finale that the writers have been thinking about, but I think we'd all love to see the show come back."
Ostroff went on to say, "Creatively, we've got a new team of writers who are running the show and they've done a great job with the series this year. We've gotten great feedback from the fans. It's interesting, because they've even used more female characters this year, which I think has even really helped it blend in more with the rest of the [CW] lineup. So, we've been really pleased with the show and would love to see it back."
