Shonda Rhimes is Working on Another Medical Show 2010/1/21 10:21:25

... Shonda Rhimes is taking her medical drama shtick to foreign lands. The Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice creator has another frisky doctor pilot in the works, this time set on a tropical island. Off the Map follows three docs as they make out with each other, the natives, some local flora and fauna, that rock over there.... Oh, and when time permits, they help sick people. [THR]

... ABC continued its soft pilot pickups with greenlights for Happy Endings, a comedy about dividing up friends when a couple breaks up at the altar, and Body of Evidence, a CBS-style procedural about a female neurosurgeon-turned-medical-examiner. C'mon ABC, you used to have the best pilot pickups! Where's the dramedy about a Frankenstein creature who falls in love with a barista or the psychic lawyer who may or may not be an alien? [THR]

... Billy Baldwin is NOT dead. His next gig will be on Gossip Girl, playing the mysterious role of Serena's MIA dad. He'll reportedly star in three episodes beginning sometime around April. In other news, I have just randomly selected Billy as my favorite Baldwin brother. [EW]

... Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay is jumping on the Leno beatdown bandwagon. The Emmy winner told a magazine that her show's ratings slide was all The Jay Leno Show's fault. "The first four episodes, we were considerably down because nobody knew when the show was on." I love it when actors think their viewers are so stupid that they don't know how to use television listings. [TV Guide]

... Smallville loves its May Sweeps stunts, and this year it's bringing back mom. Actress Annette O'Toole will reprise her role as Martha Kent, mother of Clark, toward the end of the season. She'll return due to "an unexpected surprise." No sh*t. [EW]

... For some reason, the movie Push is being adapted for television. As far as I know, the movie wasn't that great, as I haven't heard anyone say one thing positive about it. Plus, the TV adaptation is being called the next Heroes, so I guess that's a good indication of what to expect. Ahh, whatever. I'll watch it anyway. God I hate myself. [THR]
