Julia Louis-Dreyfus may soon star in her own HBO comedy.
The actress is in talks to headline Veep, a comedy project about a female vice president. HBO has ordered production on a pilot.
Dreyfus, who most recently played "Flashback Liz Lemon" on 30 Rock's live episode and a version of herself willing to reunite for a Seinfeld reunion on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, would play a former senator who discovers that being the vice president is "nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned her about," according to Deadline, which first reported the news.
Veep comes from Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, In the Loop), who will direct the pilot and co-write with Simon Blackwell. Iannucci will also executive-produce with Chris Godsick and New York Times columnist Frank Rich.
In May, Dreyfus concluded a five-season run starring in CBS' The New Adventures of Old Christine, for which she won an Emmy.
