Fiona Shaw is coming to Bon Temps, Louisiana. In what can be counted as the first casting news for "True Blood" season 4, it is announced that Shaw would be one of the new recurring characters in the HBO series.
Shaw is perhaps best known as Aunt Petunia in "Harry Potter DVD boxset" movies, and her last TV project where she was a regular was British miniseries "Gormenghast". Producers of "True Blood" wants the Irish actress to be Marnie who according to Deadline is "a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch."
Back in October, EW reported that Marnie is painfully aware of what a joke she is as a z-lister palm reader. The role originally was set for younger actress but has since been adjusted to Shaw. Creator of the series Alan Ball has said that the new season will deal a lot with witches and since Marnie will be possessed by one, she's gonna play the witch too.
In the book "Dead to the World" by Charlaine Harris, [Spoiler Alert], there's a female witch/werewolf named Hallow who wreaks havoc in Bon Temps and Shreveport. She steals Eric's memory and has a strong sense that someone is reading her mind when Sookie tries to 'listen' to her thoughts.
There are a number of other characters which are ready to be filled. There's Andy's sister Portia for one who would be required to do nude scenes. Then there's also an Asian-American cage fighter named Naomi, an elegant beauty by the name of Queen Mab and a woman named Suzanne McKittrick who tries to bond with "her kind".
