It's the biggest outing shocker since Dale Winton sashayed his way out of the closet.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has confirmed that baby Stewie is gay.
In an interview with Playboy magazine, Seth admitted that he had been planning on creating an episode that dealt with the sociopathic infant's 'outing' but decided to leave it ambiguous for future joke opportunities.
He said: "The proposed episode] had to do with the harassment he took from other kids at school. He ends up going back in time to prevent a passage in Leviticus from being written, 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is an abomination."
The show has never exactly been what you'd call subtle in dropping hints that the 1-year-old was gay. His fondness for show tunes, flirtatious campery and Lost-style flash-fowards showing Stewie singing and dancing in the Navy or wifeless and destitute have all alluded to the fact.
Seth continued: "Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual. It also explains why he's so hellbent on killing [his mother Lois] and taking over the world. He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation."
And while we're not saying that all of cartoon-dom's repressed homosexuals are destined for megalomaniacal genocide, we can't help but wonder what would happen if The Simpsons' Smithers went down that route.
