Joss Whedon's ambitious show is now on Fox's good side despite slumping ratings, poor critical reception.
Will Dollhouse return?
It's back and forth, back and forth for Joss Whedon's Dollhouse. The sci-fi program has seen its prospects for renewal cover the entire spectrum; it was initially hailed as one of the season's most promising shows, yet failed to become anything close to a ratings hit. But the power of Joss is strong… maybe even miracle strong.
The latest on Dollhouse's future is quite positive, says the The Hollywood Reporter. According to sources, Fox is "leaning toward bringing back" the show, just weeks after its finale brought in the series worst ratings yet.
But the renewal does come with caveats. Fox (like all networks) is asking for some serious budget cuts this go around, and confronted with the choice of having a cheaper show or no show at all, we're guessing Mr. Whedon and star Eliza Dushku will take the former.
Fox will officially announce its fall plans on Monday, so stay tuned for word on Dollhouse.
