TVGuide.com is reporting that Nicollette Sheridan will be departing Desperate Housewivessoon. The actress, who plays Edie Britt, has been with the show since it began.

There had been rumblings that Sheridan was leaving the show before, but it never came to fruition. Season 4 ended with her character moving away, only to return in Season 5, which began five years later. In this case though, it seems her departure is real, as TVGuide.com quotes a representative for the actress saying, "[Nicollette] had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project."

The news comes at the same time as widespread talk about eminent cast departures at another big, hit ABC series, Grey's Anatomy. Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are both said to be leaving, which was given credence by their costar, James Pickens Jr., telling US Weekly the actors would be off the show soon. In the case of Grey's though, no one else will as yet confirm the departures or get specific on when changes might occur.
