CBS, a network that has a winning hand most nights, is still looking for new shows. Honestly, they don't even need them – but it never hurts to drop a lure and see what's out there. According to Variety, The Eye Network has picked up five new pilots, including one from Jerry Bruckheimer, who's Eleventh Hour has done quite well for them.
All that's known about the new Bruckheimer show is that it's a medical drama, called Miami Trauma…that, well, revolves around trauma surgeons in Miami.
There are also two new comedies: Accidentally on Purpose which is "based on the autobiographical novel by Mary F. Pols about a San Francisco movie critic who has a fling with a younger man -- and accidentally becomes pregnant," and Waiting to Die from Arrested Development's Mitch Hurwitz which is a "buddy comedy about two easygoing guys." MADtv's Will Sasso co-wrote the pilot.
Two more dramas will join Miami Trauma on CBS too. The first is the medically themed Three Rivers, from Jericho's Carol Barbee, which will center "on organ transplants through the eyes of doctors, donors and recipients." The second is The Good Wife which is being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott and will focus on "on a politician's wife who carves out her own niche as a defense attorney."
And it's probably worth mentioning that NBC is going to take another stab at original programming with their new pilot State of Romance - which is apparently a "Chicago-set modern-day Pride and Prejudice."
