Ashley Tisdale is making her way from the Disney Channel to regular broadcast TV for the CW's new pilot, 'Hellcats' (not to be confused with 'High School Musical's' Wildcats).

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the singer-actress joins Aly Michalka in the Tom Welling-produced series, about a competitive college cheerleading team. Michalka plays Marti, a sort-of bad girl who joins the Hellcats after budget cuts and her mother's irresponsibility cause her to lose her scholarship.

The 'HSM' alumna plays Sierra, the perky captain of the Hellcats. Marti and Sierra, roommates, clash at first, but eventually come to terms with each other (but of course).

Fans will recognize Michalka from her band, Aly & AJ., and Disney 'Phil of the Future.'

Tisdale recently appeared in 'The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,' 'Phineas and Ferb' and, of course, the 'High School Musical' franchise, in which she played villainous blonde Sharpay.
