If you watched The Wire, then you know how amazing actor British actor Idris Elba can be – and if you didn't watch The Wire, come on people, go out and rent one of the finest examples of television ever! Elba, who played Stringer Bell on that late, great HBO series, will now be joining a very different series – NBC's The Office.

According to NBC, Elba will play the new no-nonsense hire at Dunder Mifflin's corporate office that will throw Michael Scott (Steve Carell) into turmoil. Elba will be appearing for a multi-episode arc this season.

Elba is the second Wire alum to not only have a recurring role on The Office this past year, but also to play a character with a notable storyline connected to Michael Scott – the previous of course being Amy Ryan, who played Michael's recent love interest, Holly.
