In a press release today, it was revealed that Andy "Controls the Universe" Richter will triumphantly reunite with Conan O'Brien on The Tonight Show. No, he won't be one of Conan's first guests. He will be the show's announcer.
It's been nine years since we've been able to enjoy the old Conan/Andy magic, and it's safe to assume that Richter will get "involved" in the show's comedic bits, more so than you might expect from a normal announcer. In fact, he might even just play out the old sidekick role that he used to inhabit on Late Night. We can all remember that Ed McMahon was Carson's announcer/sidekick, so there's a good chance that Richter might have an expanded role. Conan and Andy will make their Tonight Show debut on June 1.
On the new Late Night front, according to TVWeek.com, CBS has nabbed Paris Hilton to be a guest on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in order to combat Jimmy Fallon's first night hosting the Late Show, which begins next week on March 2nd. Not only will Paris be a guest on Ferguson's show, but the two of them will act as hosts for the evening of CBS's primetime programming.
