'American Idol' Recap 2010/5/2 10:27:19

'American Idol' : Time to try something new with The Results Show Recap.  Rather than force you to read paragraph after paragraph of my ramblings to find me express confusion over who these people are that are singing the number one song in the country or my thoughts on that week’s castaway, we’re breaking it down into three easily digestable sections for your reading pleasure.  Ending, as always, with The Idol Power Rankings.

The Results

Well, my last remaining favorite contestant this year bites the dust in her first trip to the bottom three.  It’s not really hard to figure – with those tattoos, piercings and offbeat attitude, Siobahn is just too weird for middle America.  It’ll be their loss as Siobahn was, without a doubt, the most entertaining contestant in this competition.  But a few mismatched theme weeks and some drab performances mean no more Siobahn.

And yes, it’s very disappointing as was proven by her once again slaying “Think” with her shrill scream from Hell – who knows what she would have done on Sinatra week.  The thought of her taking a vocal wrecking ball to “Send in the Clowns” had me giddy as soon as I heard the theme for next week, but I guess that’ll never happen.  At least we’ll get to watch her rock out with Paul Shaffer on Letterman next week.  That’s worth seeing her get voted off right there.

'American Idol' : Also, a nice moment after Siobahn got voted off when the microphones picked up her mom saying, “You’re still our star.”  It’s very easy to forget that, in the midst of all the “Idol” glitz that the contestants are still ordinary people plucked from obscurity.  That moment affirmed that unique aspect of this show.
