Al Pacino is set to play another controversial real-life figure on U.S. TV after signing up to play jailed music mogul Phil Spector in a new movie. Pacino, who won a 2010 Emmy Award for his portrayal of euthanasia doctor Jack Kevorkian in HBO movie "You Don't Know Jack", has teamed up with HBO bosses again for the untitled new project.
David Mamet will write and direct the film, which will chronicle the life of the music producer, who worked with The Beatles, Cher and the Ramones and created the fabled Wall of Sound music commune.
Spector is currently serving a 19-year prison sentence after being convicted for the 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson. Clarkson was found dead at Spector's residence on February 3, 2003.
