Just like Jenna Maroney’s “relationship” with Mickey Rourke, it’s over. The series finale of 30 Rock has come and gone, and it was a bittersweet and hilarious farewell to one of the best comedies (in the opinion of this writer) to hit TV in the past 20 years. Tina Fey brought her signature comic flare to NBC with a parody gun pointed straight at Saturday Night Live, but it was all in good fun while it lasted.
Over the years there have been many a great moment with the likes of Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowsi, Jack McBrayer, Judah Friedlander, Scott Adsit and of course, Alec Baldwin, who oversaw the rest of the ragtag team of The Girlie Show (Shut up, Lutz). Plus there have been amazing guest stars like Will Arnett, Chloe Moretz, David Schwimmer, Al Gore, Andy Richter, Elizabeth Banks, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Elaine Strich, Julianne Moore, Donald Glover and countless more.
And let’s not forget Liz Lemon’s long line of gentlemen callers like Matt Damon, Jason Sudeikis, Jon Hamm, Michael Sheen and lastly, James Marsden. It’s been a great wild ride seeing the crazy antics unfold at breakneck speed, often times with jokes flying by every few seconds. But tonight, the series came to a satisfying, funny and heartfelt finale, complete with an ending that only the meta writers of 30 Rock could come up with. Thankfully, this writer found the homage ending to be much more satisfying than the one it was parodying.
Now 30 Rock seasons 1-6 dvd box set is hot on sale now.
